Whale and Dolphin Watching

Come join the experienced captains and naturalists of the Cape May Whale Watch & Research Center’s vessel American Star as we scour the seas and skies for spouts, fins, birds, and other incredible marine life! This 3 hour adventure will venture out on the “search” for Humpback Whales, other species of baleen whales including Fin, Minke, or Right Whales. This cruise will also search for pods of Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins along the coast as well as spectacular offshore super pods or herds. Other possible sightings include Sea Turtles, Stingrays, Oceanic Sunfish, Sharks, pelagic bird species, and much more. Your on-board naturalist will guide all aspects of the tour, identifying and educating you on marine mammal and bird species, any other wildlife sited along the way, as well as historical structures and landmarks. This 3 hour Whale, Dolphin, and Bird Cruise has an on board touch tank filled with live local sea creatures, as well as a marine debris station and a baleen presentation for unique hands-on learning. You will have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with our naturalists and interns as they share their knowledge and passion for the field of Marine Biology with you. Become part of our crew and set sail for a one of a kind interactive educational adventure like no other in Cape May.

As a member of Whale SENSE, a voluntary program which trains all of our captains and naturalists on responsible marine mammal viewing techniques, you can be sure the American Star sets the example for all other vessels on the water. As with all of our cruises, you can always rest assured with Cape May Whale Watch & Research Center’s Marine Mammal Guarantee. In the event of no Marine Mammal sightings, including whales or dolphins, you will receive a free return trip because we value your experience with us and want you to witness all that our Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay ecosystem has to offer.
